Can you remember the last time you just went out and did something?

You did it just because you wanted to, without worrying if you were going to be any ‘good’ at it. You did it because it was fun and without worrying that
it could all go wrong?

For many of us, the last time we can really remember living like this is when we were a child.
Before the seeds of doubt were sown by our friends, our family, our teachers. Before society taught us to ‘play it safe’ and that only the special amongst us were meant to shine. Anyone who makes you feel this way needs to be told to go brush their teeth. Cos the shit their spewing is getting right up your nose and you are not going to tolerate it anymore!

I have said it before and I will continue to say it. Every one of us has a purpose. There IS something every single one of us have been put on this earth to do. We are all here for a reason and the answer to your why is in the dreams you hold in your heart. All those things you would love to do but don’t because you allow doubt and fear to tell you you are not good enough.

Go brush your teeth! You are more than good enough, in fact you were made for it.

Not everybody desires what you want. We don’t all have the same dreams, some may be similar but nobody wants or can do what you have been called to do, in the exact way you have been called to do it. Embrace your uniqueness and with every cell of your body, FEEL what your heart desires.

Strip away all that you have been told, all you’ve been taught, and go deep into your soul.
Cut out everything you ‘should’ feel and listen only to your own true feelings.  Trust your intuition. What do you really want for yourself, for your life? Only then can you start to become the person you have been called to be. Only then can you realise your true potential.

There was a great talk in an Oprah life class by Bishop T.D. Jakes in which he uses an apple to show us how we can reach our potential. I’ve put the link at the bottom of this post and would really recommend you take a look. It’s only 1 minute 14 seconds long but is a great message.

If you are struggling, there is a visualisation I’d like you to try. This visualisation has helped me find what I truly want to do and I’ve also used it to help my daughter when she was struggling to decide which path she wanted to take after college.

Imagine you are standing in a beautiful lobby. Marble floors and pillars, gilded designs on the walls. In front of you stands a grand staircase and at the top of that staircase are two large, ornate doors. You climb the staircase, one step at a time, and as you reach the top, the doors are opened for you. The room is full of people and as you enter they all turn and begin to clap. You walk through the room, smiling. Some of the people you recognise, some you don’t, but they all recognise you. As you walk through the room and head towards a podium on the other side consider what it is these people recognise you for. What will be your greatest achievement? When you step up to the podium and turn to face them all, what are you there for? Go with the first thing that comes into your mind, embrace it and enjoy the experience of being celebrated for achieving it. Now rewind, go backwards through the room to the top of the staircase, as you rewind down each step consider how you got there. What were the steps you took? What did you have to do to get there? When you reach the bottom again begin that journey back up the staircase, one step at a time, what is the first step? The second? The third and so on, how big the staircase is, will depend on the steps you will need to take. You may not even see the whole staircase just yet and it’s okay if you only see the first step, for now, that is all you need to see. You know what awaits you at the top, you know your why, all you need to focus on now is your next step.

You can use this visualisation to help you find your purpose and the first step or you can continue to use it to acknowledge the steps you have already taken and find the next step you need to take.

You may struggle at first and it may take a few attempts to see what you are to be celebrated for but it will come. Persist. Some of you will have more of the ‘shit’ I mentioned earlier to get through, some of you may already have been shifting through it. Don’t give up, you hold the answer. It’s your life and only you can know what you have been called to do. Forget everyone else, it’s time to focus on you and you alone. What do YOU want? What are YOUR values? What are YOU going to do?

Don’t allow anyone or anything take your dreams away from you. Don’t give your power away and never allow yourself to believe you weren’t meant to shine.

To help you get really clear on your purpose you can download my free workbook, Find Your Values, Find Your Purpose. If you haven’t already, join us in the Fempreneurz Launch Hub to access this workbook and more.
